Rice Bowl Recipe | Indian Paneer Garlic Rice Bowl with step-by-step photo and video recipe. Rice and paneer have become integral parts of Indian meals daily. However, these two generally do not combine to make one recipe. Yet, they can be combined to make one healthy and filling recipe known as a paneer rice bowl, which is known for its protein and carb combination.

I have posted several paneer and rice recipes on my blog now. My readers will appreciate these, but I have also received many requests to combine these two main ingredients. I always assumed that traditional recipes are more appreciated than new fusion-style recipes. But I was wrong and I have to admit it. I have been getting many requests for different types of rice bowl recipes, so I thought I would start a series on them. Moreover, nothing is better than a paneer rice bowl to start this initiative. I understand that there are many popular meat and fish-based bowls, but I would stick to vegetarian. Particularly, the combination of basic and exotic vegetables with ideal protein choices. Do try this; I am sure everyone in your family would appreciate it.

Here are some critical tips, suggestions and variations to the rice bowl recipe. Firstly, I balanced the meal with rice, paneer, vegetables, sauce, basic spices, and savouries. However, skipping one or two main ingredients can prepare the same meal. However, skipping paneer and rice is not recommended for this recipe, as these are the hero ingredients. Secondly, from the rice perspective, I have used basmati rice, which makes the entire meal attractive and appealing. However, you can also use other rice like sona masuri or ponni rice. Lastly, the vegetables used in this recipe are open-ended. You may use any vegetables as per your choice and preference.

About Indian Paneer Rice Bowl

It is a modern twist on traditional Indian rice and paneer-based recipes to make it a balanced and filling meal. Paneer Garlic Rice Bowl tries to achieve two targets with one stone. In other words, it can be tiring and exhausting to make a flavoured rice pulav with an additional paneer-based side dish or curries. This meal combines and makes a versatile and interesting dish with extra vegetables, entirely open-ended. Further, the recipe offers a balanced approach of protein and carbs in one bowl. Hence, it is ideal to serve all age groups.

There are many different types of rice bowl recipes worldwide, but only a few variations attract the Indian taste buds. The first variation is a paneer-based bowl, for apparent reasons. The other most common type is tofu or soya chunk-based bowls. These are rich in protein and other nutrients, thus making a complete meal. How to make Herbs Rice:

  • Firstly, heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan. Add 4 cloves of garlic, 1 tsp mixed herbs, and ½ tsp chilli flakes.

  • Saute till the spices turn aromatic.

  • Add in 2 cup cooked rice, ½ tsp salt, ¼ tsp pepper powder and mix well.

  • Also, add 2 tbsp of coriander and mix well. Herb Rice is ready to serve.

How to make Stir-Fry Vegetables:

  • Firstly, in a pan heat 2 tsp oil. Add carrot, capsicum, onion, broccoli, sweet corn and paneer.

  • Sprinkle chilli flakes, salt and mixed herbs.

  • Stir-fry till the vegetables turn crunchy. Keep the vegetables and paneer aside.

  • To prepare the sauce, heat 1 tsp butter and saute 1 tsp maida till it turns aromatic.

  • Add in 1 cup of milk and mix well, making sure the sauce thickens slightly.

  • Further add 2 tsp schzewan sauce and cook till the sauce turns creamy.

  • Add in stir-fried vegetables and mix well.

How to serve Rice Bowl:

  • In a bowl, serve a small bowl of rice.

  • Also add saucy stir-fried vegetables and fried paneer.
