Watch: Nitish Kumar releases fish at Bihar event, crowd rushes to steal them right after CM leaves | India News

Residents of a village in Bihar wasted no time grabbing fish that Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar had just released into a tank. The incident took place on Friday in Amarpur, Saharsa, during a government exhibition where Kumar was invited to inaugurate a biofloc tank for breeding fish. As soon as the CM left, the fish were quickly stolen.
Kumar’s visit to Saharsa had begun with a stop at the Maa Vishhari temple in Diwari before he moved on to the main event, which showed various initiatives by the Bihar administration, including aquaculture. The highlight of the Fisheries Department’s display was the biofloc tank, a cutting-edge fish breeding system designed to boost local food production. The CM had the honor of releasing the first batch of fish into the tank, signaling the beginning of a promising project. However, that hope was short-lived.
As soon as Kumar left the event, chaos ensued. By-standers captured the moment when an eager crowd, seemingly unconcerned with government protocols, rushed towards the fish tank. In the frenzy, a young woman was tossed into the tank, and a diver quickly followed suit. Within moments, the biofloc tank became a scene of pure mayhem, with people wading in and scooping up fish right in front of stunned officials and security personnel, who stood by, helpless.

According to local reports, for many attendees, the CM’s presence was merely a formality. The real attraction had always been the fish. One local resident, Divyanshu Kumar, candidly admitted that his motives were purely gastronomical.

“I didn’t come to meet Nitish Kumar. The moment he left, we all rushed towards the tank. Tonight, we will have a fish party in his name,” he said.
The absurdity of the situation left many laughing, but it also raised concerns about the future of the project and how to better manage crowds at such public events.
