IPS officer Rashmi Shukla, who was sent on leave by the Maharashtra government following the Election Commission’s direction, was re-appointed as DGP of Maharashtra late on Monday night.
Sanjay Kumar Verma was the interim Director General of Police of the state at that time while Shukla was on leave. According to an order issued by the state home department, Shukla was re-appointed DGP after the election period ended.
Known for his good rapport with Shukla BJP Leader Devendra Fadnavis Whom he met on Monday. He is likely to take charge on Tuesday and Verma will again be DG Legal and Technical, the post he held before being appointed DGP.
