Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi visited the Southern Command Headquarters on the second day of his visit to Pune, where he reviewed the operational preparedness of the command and the ongoing preparations for the Army Day Parade 2025, which is scheduled to be held. During the visit, the COAS honored two veterans with Veteran Achievers Awards for their exceptional contributions after retirement. The honorees also include Colonel Shashikant Ji Dalvi (Retd), who has dedicated his post-retirement life to water conservation and environmental sustainability. Through his organization Parjanya, he has implemented over 650 rainwater harvesting projects, reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by 9,360 tonnes and helping villages and urban areas achieve water self-sufficiency.
The Army Chief also honored Subedar Clerk Suneet S, who after his retirement has played a vital role in furthering the welfare of veterans, Veer Naris and widows through his close association with the Army Veterans Node, Southern Command.
