New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Monday approved a number of major projects including funding for two hydropower plants in Arunachal Pradesh, three major railway projects, a major upgrade to the PAN system and the launching of Rs. National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) to promote natural farming across the country.

The Union Cabinet on Monday approved the launch of National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) to promote natural farming across the country.
NMNF is a standalone centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Its total outlay is Rs 2,481 crore.
Over the next two years, the government plans to implement NMNF in 15,000 groups in gram panchayats who are willing, and reach out to one crore farmers and introduce natural farming (NF) in 7.5 lakh hectare area.
Areas with prevalence of NF farmers, SRLM/PACS/FPO etc. will be given preference. Additionally, 10,000 need-based Bio-Input Resource Centers (BRCs) will be set up to provide easy availability and access to finished products. Use NF input for farmers, read government issue.
PAN 2.0 project
PAN 2.0 project is an e-governance project for re-engineering the business processes of taxpayer registration services through technology-driven transformation of PAN/TAN services for enhanced digital experience of taxpayers.
This will be an upgrade to the existing PAN/TAN 1.0 eco-system which will consolidate core and non-core PAN/TAN activities as well as PAN verification service.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Income Tax Department’s PAN 2.0 project, which will require an outlay of Rs 1,435 crore.
One Nation One Membership Scheme
Cabinet approved One Nation One Subscription Scheme to provide nationwide access to international high-impact scholarly research articles and journal publications to students, faculty and researchers of all higher education institutions managed by the Central Government and State Governments and Research & Development Is. A total of 30 leading international journal publishers are included in the ONOS scheme. Atal Innovation Mission to continue
The Cabinet has approved the continuation of its flagship initiative, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under the aegis of NITI Aayog with expanded scope of work and allocated budget of Rs 2,750 crore for the period up to March 31, 2028 Has gone.
AIM 2.0 is designed to strengthen India’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in three ways: (a) by increasing inputs (i.e., involving more innovators and entrepreneurs), (b) in success rates or ‘throughput’ (c) by improving innovation (i.e., by helping more startups succeed) and (c) by improving the quality of ‘output’ (i.e., producing better jobs, products and services).
Overall, it aims to expand, strengthen and deepen India’s already vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
three rail projects
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved three projects of the Railway Ministry with a total cost of Rs. 7,927 crores (approx.).
The three projects are:

  • I. Jalgaon-Manmad 4th Line (160 km)
  • II. Bhusaval-Khandwa 3rd and 4th Line (131 km)
  • iii. Prayagraj (Iradatganj) – Manikpur 3rd Line (84 km)

The three projects covering seven districts of three states i.e. Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh will expand the existing network of Indian Railways by approximately 639 kilometres.
The proposed multi-tracking projects will increase connectivity to two aspirational districts (Khandwa and Chitrakoot). 1,319 villages and about 38 lakh population.
Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal
The Cabinet has approved an investment proposal for construction of 186 MW Tato-I Hydro Electric Project in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh with an outlay of Rs 1750 crore and a completion period of 50 months.
The project will be implemented through a joint venture company between North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The central government will extend Rs 77.37 crore as budgetary support for construction of roads, bridges and related transmission lines under enabling infrastructure, besides Rs 120.43 crore for state equity share, the statement said. Central financial assistance will also be provided.
Hydro Project in Yomi, Arunachal
The Government has approved the proposal for construction of 240 MW Heo Hydro Electric Project in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh with an outlay of Rs 1939 crore and a completion period of 50 months.
The project will be implemented through a joint venture company between North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Central Government will extend Rs 127.28 crore as budgetary support for construction of roads, bridges and related transmission lines under enabling infrastructure in addition to central financial assistance of Rs 130.43 crore for the State’s equity share.
