'Obscene content due to end of editorial scrutiny': IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on social media regulation laws

New Delhi: Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnav On Wednesday, he called for the implementation of strict laws to curb this.obscene materialon social media, pointing out that the traditional editorial checks that once ensured the accuracy and appropriateness of content have largely disappeared.
“Today, on the one hand, social media is a great medium for freedom of press, but on the other hand, its destruction editorial investigationIt is an uncontrolled expression which also carries many types of obscene content. “The existing law definitely needs to be strengthened and I would request that a consensus be reached on this,” he said.
“There is a lot of difference between the culture of our country and the culture of the countries from where these social media platforms have come. That is why this kind of debate has arisen in many other countries also. Therefore, I would like the Standing Committee of Parliament to take up this issue and Strict laws should be made regarding this,” he said.
