NEW DELHI: In a recent episode of The Ranveer Show podcast, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn surprised fans with his choice of favourite Indian cricketers.
While host Ranveer Allahbadia labelled the pair of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as an “iconic pairing” of his generation, Devgn went in a different direction, naming MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma as his all-time favourites.
When asked to choose a duo in cricket similar to his own partnership with filmmaker Rohit Shetty, Devgn responded warmly, saying, “Mujhe Dhoni aur Rohit dono hi bohot pasand hain (I like both MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma),” highlighting his admiration for both players.

Devgn’s praise comes at a time when India captain Rohit and Kohli find themselves grappling with poor form following a disappointing 0-3 Test series loss to New Zealand at home.
Nevertheless, Devgn’s choice shows his belief in Dhoni and Rohit’s impact and legacy.
In the IPL 2025 retention list, Dhoni was retained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at an uncapped rate of Rs. 4 crore.
As the backbone of CSK and a fan favourite, Dhoni’s continued presence will offer stability and leadership, especially as he mentors young players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Matheesha Pathirana, who are also key retentions for CSK.

Despite his limited involvement in international cricket now, Dhoni’s influence in the IPL remains unmatched.
On the other hand, Rohit, the former captain of Mumbai Indians, was retained at Rs. 16.3 crore.
With Mumbai Indians securing stalwarts like Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit’s presence means an experienced hand in nurturing emerging talents like Tilak Varma.
