New Delhi: In a joint operation on Friday, Indian Navy and Sri Lankan Navy About 500 kg seized crystal methamphetamine In two boats in the Arabian Sea.
The boats, their crew and the seized narcotics are being handed over to the Sri Lankan authorities for further investigation and legal action.
This operation took place a few days after breaking a record drug recovery by the Indian Coast Guard earlier this week. On Tuesday, the Coast Guard announced its largest-ever haul of illegal drugs, intercepting a fishing boat carrying 5.5 tonnes of methamphetamine from Myanmar.
The suspicious ship was first seen here andaman sea by one Indian Coast Guard Reconnaissance air patrol. A coast guard ship was dispatched, and officials boarded the boat at dawn on Sunday after it entered Indian territorial waters.
The ship, manned by six Myanmar nationals, was found carrying 5,500 kg of methamphetamine, the largest drug seizure in the history of the Indian Coast Guard.
The boat has been taken to the Indian naval base for further action.
