BJP spokesperson and Lok Sabha MP Sambit Patra on Wednesday hit out at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for saying on Constitution Day that the ballot paper should be returned. Patra reminded him that a day earlier the Supreme Court had said that candidates who lose elections cry over EVMs.
“Mallikarjunji, you do not want EVMs, Judiciary, Election Commission, ED, CBI and Government of India. So, the suitable place for you is Mars, where none of this exists,” Patra said, adding that EVMs are wasting the votes of OBCs, SCs and STs. Do they mean that just because they are SC, ST and OBC, they do not know where to press the buttons? This is an insult to them.”
Kharge took a dig at him when he said that EVMs should be kept at the Prime Minister’s house. Narendra Modi“Modiji already has an EVM at his house – E for energy, V for vikas (development) and M for hard work (hard work),” Patra said. Yes, we are winning because of this EVM and you are losing because of RBM – Rahul’s useless management. The problem is not with the machine, but with your leadership. You need to change Rahul, not EVMs.”
“The moment Khargeji said what he did, the Supreme Court was hearing a petition against EVMs. Both the judges hearing the case said that the suspicion of EVM fixing is baseless. He said that the candidates who lose cry over EVMs. Patra said, this is a story of sour grapes.
Patra underlined that when the Election Commission had challenged all political parties in 2017 for a hackathon to prove that EVMs could be hacked, no one came forward.
“You were very proud of 99 seats (in the Lok Sabha). Everything was fine at that time. When you win a state you don’t say anything about EVMs. Do you want to say that JMM also won by tampering with EVMs? Patra said, this alliance is not religion. “Congress workers know that Rahul cannot win, but they cannot say this. So they say EVMs are bad. When Rajiv Gandhi spoke against ballot paper BJP Won 86 seats. He had said, something is wrong. Father says ballot papers are bad, son says EVMs are bad. “Do they want the monarchy to come back and be crowned and put on the throne?”
