Explosion near temple in Hyderabad, priest injured; probe under way

NEW DELHI: A minor explosion occurred near a temple in Hyderabad’s Mailardevpally area on Monday, injuring a priest of the temple.
The incident occurred while the priest was cleaning garbage on the road outside the temple premises.
“An explosion took place near a temple on Laxmiguda Road under Mailardevpally police station limits. The incident occurred when the temple priest was cleaning the premises near the temple. The temple priest was seriously injured in the explosion and has been admitted to a hospital. More details will be revealed after investigation,” ACP Rajender Nagar told news agency ANI.
Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene along with a bomb disposal squad.
Samples from the site were collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
However, according to news agency PTI, the priest was rushed to a hospital after the blast, where his condition is reported to be stable.
An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the explosion, the police officer said.
