Canada Hindu temple attack: Brampton Police arrest one more person in connection with violent altercation

Bramton’s Peel Region Police on Saturday (Local time) announced the arrest of another individual involved in the recent violent incident at a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada.
The incident, which occurred on November 3, saw a demonstration at the Mandir on The Gore Road escalate into physical altercations, with individuals reportedly using flags and sticks as weapons.
The latest suspect, identified as 35-year-old Inderjeet Gosal of Brampton, was arrested on November 8 and charged with assault with a weapon. He has been released under certain conditions and is expected to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.
The Strategic Investigation Team (SIT) of the 21 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau is handling the case, with officers currently reviewing hundreds of videos to identify further suspects. Peel Police emphasized that due to the complexity of the investigation, arrests are ongoing as individuals are identified, regardless of order.
In the wake of the incident, Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya condemned the attack, attributing it to “Khalistani extremists” targeting Hindu devotees. Arya also criticised politicians who have described the incident as a “Hindu-Sikh issue.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condemned the violence, stating on X: “I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. Equally appalling are the cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats. Such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve. We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.”

Additionally, The Indian High Commission in Canada issued a statement denouncing the “violent disruption” by anti-India elements outside a consular camp, echoing calls for accountability and justice in response to the incident.
