Artful British Craftsmanship Capsules : Assemblage 7: Lost and Found II

British designer Faye Toogood has opened the doors to her fourth solo show which takes place at gallery Friedman Benda in New York — the Assemblage 7: Lost and Found II exhibition is comprised of a dynamic collection. The capsule explores lost crafts along with reclaimed and reworked materials.

The show takes over the Chelsea area and brings pieces that are made from English oak and Purbeck marble. The gallery notes, “Historically significant, both materials draw on the nation’s vernacular forms and traditions of making.” Across the gallery space, the pieces dubbed Plot, Cairn, Barrow, Hill, Hoard, and Lode are represented by places, materials, and techniques. The designer describes the look of each item as “something almost prehistoric.”
